Best airlines and airports of 2007
I think it is time to make my own conclusions about the past year and to share with you other interesting conclusions made around the world. Let's start with airlines and airports, I am big fan of planes and airports myself.
At Andel's blog I saw the post that Czech Airlines was voted as the Best Airline of Central Europe. So my first congrats goes to Czechs! Ranking was prepared by WorldAirlineAwards.Com.
But main applause is saved for Singapore Airlines (SIA) as they won the Airline of the Year 2007 award. Those who flied with them knows their fantastic service and heart stealing pretty stewardesses. Keep rocking, SIA!

Interesting points are that Top3 consists of all Asia Pacific airlines, also 9 out of 10 Top10 airlines are from Asian continent! (considering that Australia is also part of Asia) Only British Airways managed to enter the Top10 as the last one;
1- Singapore Airlines
2- Thai Airways (wow! Smiling gets you to the top soon!)
3- Cathay Pacific
4- Qatar Airways
5- Qantas
6- Malaysia Airlines
7- Air New Zealand
8- China Airlines
9- Emirates
10- British Airways
Other winners;
Best Airline (Asia) - Singapore Airlines
Best Airline (Australasia) - Qantas Airways
Best Airline (Africa) - South African Airways
Best Airline (Europe) - British Airways
Best Airline (North America) - Air Canada
Best Airline (South America) - TAM Linhas AƩreas
...
Best low-cost Airline (Worldwide) - Jetstar Airways
Best low-cost airline (Europe) - Air Berlin
...
(see full list here)
I have flied with Singapore Airlines and Jetstar Airways. Jetstar had an ambitious start few years ago and it seems it has been doing well since then. I flied with them couple of times; typical low-cost airline with narrow space between the small seats (tough place for long legs and big butts), and sometimes unfriendly staff (yet one of them scolded me that I was attempting "to geopordize" the aircraft when I asked to bring my big backpack with me to the cabin once). I am suprised that they got the elected as the worldwide best budget airline...
Also, another surprise that I was expecting SkyEurope to win the European award for the Best budget Airline, instead they chose Air Berlin. Never flied with Berliners. Probably they are indeed good. But SkyEurope has been rocking in Europe in 2007, great offers and many destinations around Europe! My choice goes to them.
They have more awards to give! Best World Cabin Staff Award goes to ...... Malaysia Airlines! It is like a twin of Singapore Airlines. Congrats Malays! Also, for Best Central Europe Cabin Staff, Air Astana got 3rd award! Congrats Kazakhs! Czech Airlines rocks here as well.
Next, Emirates wins the Best Airline Inflight Entertainment Award! They overtook SIA here. As for the Best First Class Award, Qatar Airways overtook SIA as well. The Best Business Class Award goes to the overall winner SIA as well, and the Best Economy Class Award is snapped away by Korean Air! They fly to Prague, so I may fly with them if any trips to Asia will be planned next year. I hope they don't play Korean dramas on the board ;).
What about the airports?! Here as well Asian Airports cleaned away the prizes. Hong Kong International Airport is the winner! And two airports are sharing the 2nd place; Singapore Changi Airport and Seoul Incheon Airport. Congrats Asian Tigers!
Our Prague Ruzyne Airport got the 1st award in Central/Eastern Europe region, and Munich Airport is the overall European winner, and 4th best in the world (2007).
