these japanese...

Marie Mockett of Japundit shares interesting photos of suntan apples. I wonder how they do it and for what purpose they use it? There should some ceremonial purpose behind these artistic looks. Maybe our Japanese readers can answer it?! :))

here is a Jpanese reader who saw these suntan apples for the first time;)

but maybe I can add some information on this posting.let me try.

as you see, In the apple on the left side the picture of a crane is found and on the right a turtle.
Both are famous as a luck implying long life. so we often use them in the ceremonial occasions.
and the box under the two apples
there are some apples on which we can see Kanji which is written in special way and means also something lucky or happy.

how these apples are made?

it says a kind of seals are put on apples before they turn red and peel off the seal afer picking up.
